Yes, you are not required to have a sponsor to take the Series 3 Exam.
You should plan on completing about 850 practice questions online prior to taking the exam. If your scores are not within passing range at that point, you may need to complete more questions. Make sure you do some questions exclusively on the regulation portion of the material so you are comfortable with that module of the examination.
Assuming you are working full-time while preparing for the examination, you should allow yourself 3-4 weeks or 40-50 hours to read through the material and complete practice exams.
Yes. The Series 3 has a number of lengthy questions which may require multiple steps. It is important to manage your time effectively to ensure you finish the exam. The Series 3 is unique in that time is more of a constraint than on other FINRA-administered qualification exams.
